Noninvasive Bioreactance-Based Fluid Management Monitoring: A Review of Literature

چکیده
Abstract Body fluid balance is an independent predictor of mortality. For each liter over and above 5 L, risk-adjusted excess mortality seen. Mortality increased by 2.3% for 1 L hospital costs $999. Accordingly, most recent guidelines have endorsed dynamic modeling. Passive leg raising-induced increase aortic blood flow ≥ 10% predicts responsiveness with a sensitivity 97% specificity 94%. Thus, passive raising often used as gold standard validation other procedures (though it's usefulness to assess respiratory variation in vena cava not conclusive). STARLING, device based on bioreactance, works phase shift or time delay while bioimpedance the amplitude thoracic impedance. Unlike bioimpedance, bioreactance affected size patient, fluids, position sensors. STARLING equipped four sensor pads. Each pad contains two sensors, outer transmitting electrode inner receiving electrode. The monitor induces 75-KHz AC current. It then measures delay/phase shift. system, bioreactance-based assessment system responsiveness, it accurately, precisely, noninvasively. reduces invasive risks independently validated against pulmonary artery catheter. vasopressors shock has wide range application.

Evaluation of a noninvasive continuous cardiac output monitoring system based on thoracic bioreactance.
Noninvasive cardiac output (CO) measurement can be useful in many clinical settings where invasive monitoring is not desired. Bioimpedance (intrabeat measurement of changes in transthoracic voltage amplitude in response to an injected high-frequency current) has been explored for this purpose but is limited in some clinical settings because of inherently low signal-to-noise ratio. Since changes...
متن کاملComparison between Flotrac-Vigileo and Bioreactance, a totally noninvasive method for cardiac output monitoring
INTRODUCTION This study was designed to compare the clinical acceptability of two cardiac output (CO) monitoring systems: a pulse wave contour-based system (FloTrac-Vigileo) and a bioreactance-based system (NICOM), using continuous thermodilution (PAC-CCO) as a reference method. METHODS Consecutive patients, requiring PAC-CCO monitoring following cardiac surgery, were also monitored by the tw...

Governments and regulators are saddled with the burden of introducing and enforcing compliance to the right laws and regulations in order to address specific needs of our dynamic contemporary society. Irrespective of the instruments or mechanisms they use, they are often concerned with over or under-regulation, as well as regulatory effectiveness. Despite advances in the use of Information Syst...

متن کاملNoninvasive monitoring intracranial pressure – A review of available modalities
BACKGROUND Intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring is important in many neurosurgical and neurological patients. The gold standard for monitoring ICP, however, is via an invasive procedure resulting in the placement of an intraventricular catheter, which is associated with many risks. Several noninvasive ICP monitoring techniques have been examined with the hope to replace the invasive technique...
